Im doing the 3800 Supercharged V6 I bought a donor car 1999 Buick Regal and I've been reading and reading I can't seem to find much about the transaxles. I had the 2.2L which I have pulled the both motors already. The tranny from the sunfire 2.2 is in excellent condition. I also have the tranny from the 3800 which is in excellent condiction too... What I need to know is what tranaxles should I use to with the 4t65e-hd tranny that came with the regal (Im pretty for sure thats the correct tranny #)... Correct me if Im wrong but the 2.2L tranny wont bolt up to the 3.8 sc will it...

Any help is much appriciate...
BTW Im working on drawing up prints in Autocad on the subframe, wireing, ect... for those who may want copies when im finished...

You would have to make custom axles for the 4T65E transmission.

Now this might suprise you, but the 3800 WILL bolt to the 2.2 transmission. Will it take the power? I couldnt tell you.

By the way, there are 2 different transmissions that came with the 2.2 motor. Do you have the 3T40 or the 4T40E? The 4speed might be able to handle 240hp.

Judging by the pic in the other thread... I think the OP has a 5 speed, which would be the Isuzu-designed (but GM-built) transmission in the 95 model year...

You can make it a 5 speed... but you'll want a nice strong clutch to hold it. And expect the spider gears in the weak Isuzu trans to go after a while... depending on how hard you drive it.

Then you can just use the factory axles...

I swapped to the 4T65E-HD that came with the engine from the Park Ave in my swap... had to make custom equal-length axles for it..

Would it be worth it to put a stage 3 clutch and pressure plate in the 5 speed isuzu tranny... Then later on put the G6 6 speed tranny in it later... And if i use the is 5 speed isuzu tranny do I need to change the fly wheel...

Stage 3 or 3+ if you want the driving comfort of a full disc instead of a puck style... should hold the power of the L67 just fine.

I wouldn't waste your time with the G6 6 speed. No one's pioneered that swap that I've seen, because apparently it doesn't hold much in the way of power... if you have easy access to a cheap one, I'd say "be the first!" but they're generally pretty expensive. Not worth the cost.

Flywheel will have to be milled down (the measurement is on this site somewhere, as well as J-body.org.. I think it's 0.84"? for some reason).

Forgive the thread hijack Wink

Not sure if you are still watching this forum, but I have 2 Tranny's the 4T60 and 4T65 both HD versions. Did you use the stock PCM for your swap? I am not and will need to rig up something for shifting is why I am asking.

Yup, pretty much stuffed all the Park Ave electronics, cluster, wiring, etc... spliced into the Cavalier, then added the convertible top wiring.
