Hey everyone!! I am new to this forum and have read many articles about some pretty cool swaps. I finally decided to step up and do one of my own. I currently drive a 1998 Pontiac Grand Prix GT with a 3800 L32. The motor has 178k miles on it and I am wanting some more power.
My friend totaled his 97' gtp(rear end collision) and said for $200 I can have the motor and trans. I want to swap this drive train into my car and also add a turbo. I figured the GTP drive train would be a good place too start due to the low scr 8.5:1 ,the HD transmission and the overall simplicity of the swap. I will pull the computer and engine management harness with the motor. So my first question is how much power can the GTP engine and transmission take and still be reliable? Also what are the weak points? I plan on using the stock bottom end depending on how much power it can hold. I was hoping for around 300whp. Thanks in advance!! |

| look around clubgp there are 1000s of post that will give you that information. The stock motor is very strong with week points in the trans. you can look at www.zzperformance.com and will have tons of parts. |
