Hi,
I'm new to this site and I've never swapped an engine before. So I have a 1995 Oldsmobile Achieva that has a blown Quad 4 . I found a 2001 Grand Prix with a N/A 3800 and was wondering if it will fit into my Achieva? What all will I have to do to my car to make this work? Will I also need the transmission from the Grand Prix? Also would it be easier to swap in a 3400? I'm not looking for a hot rod, just a repalcement for my blown engine. Thanks in advance! |

I can't answer all your questions... but a couple I can
The Quad family of engines uses a unique bellhousing pattern... so you'd have to get the transmission with the 3800 if you want to swap one in. You can use any transmission with the more common GM bellhousing... including those off the 2.2L Cavalier engines (J-bodies are my specialty!) if you wanted a 5 speed..
I fit a 3800 in a 2000 Cavalier.. and since the N-body has a larger engine bay.. I can assure you, YES it would fit in your car. But you'll have to do a bunch of fabrication to make it work... mounts, axles, etc. wiring will be a pain if you want it to run your stock gauges.
Other than that.. it's a fun engine swap! Lots of power... Achieva would make a nice sleeper.. _________________
